Coaching For Pilots & Aviation Professionals

Strengthen Your Mental Performance & Stay Connected at Home

Aviation requires you to remain focused, capable, and composed under pressure. But performance anxiety, checkrides, recurrent training, demanding schedules, and time away from home can affect more than your confidence in the cockpit—they can also create stress and disconnection in your relationship. You do not have to choose between succeeding in aviation and being present in your relationship.

Coaching is future-focused and designed to help you strengthen skills, improve performance, enhance your relationship, and work toward clearly defined goals. Coaching provides a private and confidential space to discuss your concerns without receiving a mental health diagnosis or having clinical progress notes added to a medical record.

Because coaching is not psychotherapy, you do not need to be physically located in Minnesota to participate.

Performance Anxiety in Aviation

Even experienced pilots can struggle with self-doubt, fear of failure, or anxiety before a checkride, evaluation, interview, or demanding flight. The pressure to perform can lead to overthinking, difficulty concentrating, disrupted sleep, physical tension, or questioning skills you have already demonstrated.

Together, we’ll identify the thoughts and patterns that interfere with your confidence and develop strategies to help you approach challenges with greater steadiness and trust in your abilities.

Coaching can help you:

  • Recognize and manage performance anxiety

  • Quiet overthinking and self-doubt

  • Prepare mentally for checkrides, evaluations, and interviews

  • Recover confidence after a difficult flight or professional setback

  • Manage perfectionism and fear of making mistakes

  • Develop strategies for staying focused under pressure

  • Separate your performance from your sense of self-worth

Staying Connected With Your Spouse

Irregular schedules, commuting, deployments, reserve periods, fatigue, and frequent time away can place significant strain on a relationship. Your spouse may feel alone carrying responsibilities at home, while you may feel misunderstood, criticized, or unsure how to reconnect when you return.

The changes you make can positively influence the relationship. We’ll focus on what is within your control and help you become more intentional in how you communicate, respond, and reconnect.

Coaching can help you:

  • Communicate more openly with your spouse

  • Respond emotionally rather than immediately trying to solve the problem

  • Understand recurring patterns of conflict or disconnection

  • Navigate departures, reunions, and changing schedules

  • Share responsibilities and reduce resentment at home

  • Strengthen trust, emotional intimacy, and teamwork

  • Create healthier boundaries between work and family life

As the spouse of a military pilot, I have firsthand experience with the demands aviation places on both the pilot and the family. I understand the stress surrounding training, checkrides, deployments, unpredictable schedules, and career transitions—as well as the work it takes to remain connected through them.

My coaching approach combines this personal understanding with my professional experience as a psychotherapist to provide practical, individualized support for your professional performance and closest relationship.
